START Program: Hiring Incentive
About this program
Wage incentive program that helps employers offset salary and benefit costs when hiring unemployed Nova Scotians, with priority given to full-time sustainable employment. Covers training and equipment costs determined case-by-case. Priority sectors now include digital technologies, ICT, defence and aerospace, energy and cleantech, natural resources, agriculture and fisheries, and housing and construction.
Eligibility
Small or medium-sized employers in Nova Scotia who apply before hiring and unemployed (or employed less than full-time hours) Nova Scotia residents who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, eligible international graduates, or spouses of military members with imminent transfer to Nova Scotia.
